The summit is co-sponsored by CMF, MENTOR, Corporation for National and Community Service and Evelyn Freed Mentor Center. Contributing partners include Youth Noise, National Guard, Los Angeles Mentoring Coalition for Youth, the Association of Mentor Professionals, and the California Friday Night Live Partnership. Other groups will be joining in sponsorship as the summit approaches.
Meeting participants will learn from mentoring experts, as well as, business and civic leaders about the benefits of mentoring and the latest developments in the field. The summit will also build skills for mentoring program professionals and demonstrate how communities, faith-based groups and businesses can get involved in supporting young people through mentoring. There will be keynote speakers, panel discussions, workshops, and exhibitors providing learning opportunities for participants.
The program agenda begins September 18, 2008, at 9:00 a.m. with panel presentations, a lunchtime keynote speaker and recognition awards. The afternoon will consist of breakout sessions.
The September 19, 2008 agenda begins at 8:30 a.m. with more breakout sessions and a closing plenary session from 10:30 a.m. to noon. The 2008 National Mentoring Summit will empower the participants to take the “Magic of Connections” home and make a difference for young people in their communities.
Registration is $135.00 per person.
