A Transition Plan for Securing America's Energy Future
Monday, November 17, 2008 1:30 PM - 3:00 PM (Eastern Time)

U.S. Chamber of Commerce
1615 H Street, NW
Washington, D.C. 20062
United States

Tom Donohue, President and CEO of the U. S. Chamber of Commerce, and General James L. Jones, USMC (Ret.), President and CEO of the U.S. Chamber’s Institute for 21st Century Energy, will unveil a new Energy Transition Plan, a roadmap for implementing the more than 75 energy policy recommendations the Institute proposed this fall to urge the president-elect and 11th Congress to adopt a comprehensive and long-term energy strategy for America.

During this time of political transition, the next president and Congress are presented with a ready opportunity to implement policies that get us off the energy roller coaster and onto solid ground.  Providing certainty for energy projects can be an avenue to new American jobs, new industries, and new technologies to grow our economy and keep our environment clean and our nation secure.

The program will highlight:

  • How can energy policies be a potent driver for economic growth and recovery?
  • What can the next president do in his first 100 days to strengthen America’s energy security?
  • How should the President-elect organize government to execute energy policy?
  • What is the role of the private sector versus the role of government to lead us into a prosperous, secure energy future?
  • If implemented, how will the energy proposals proposed on the campaign trail impact small businesses and American consumers?
