NICHE Acute Care - Leadership Training Program
Tuesday, February 25, 2020

Registration is now open for the February 2020 -  Acute Care - Leadership Training Program (LTP)!

Visit for additional information on the NICHE process.

The NICHE Acute Care - Leadership Training Program offers a blended learning approach in which participants engage in a rigorous eight-week program delivered via a web-based platform and facilitated by the NICHE team and mentors, as well as follow ups with mentors regarding the current progress in implementation and the change process. The components of the LTP include a live introduction webinar, learning webinars, proven strategies from established NICHE hospitals, an improved Planning & Implementation Guide and more participant engagement with NICHE faculty and mentors who lead NICHE programs in their hospitals.

You will be given access to the course via the NICHE Knowledge Center, a web-based e-learning platform.

NICHE is a national leader in improving geriatric care in hospitals and healthcare organizations. Over 680 hospitals and healthcare facilities have adopted NICHE programs. They share a common vision of providing exemplary care to older adults through implementing NICHE’s systemic approach to creating organizational change across disciplines.

There are numerous advantages to having a NICHE program in your hospital. NICHE sites report improved patient outcomes, greater patient and nurse satisfaction, increased efficiency and marketability.

As a member site, your hospital will have access to these resources:

  • A robust members-only website which houses an abundance of tools and resources that include continuing education and training modules, organizational models, clinical organizational strategies, the NICHE Encyclopedia, video streaming, and the NICHE Media Kit.
  • E-learning webinar series with expert hosts, featuring the latest research, best practices, and organizational strategies to improve clinical outcomes.
  • Participation in a thriving online community to share knowledge with peers in hospitals around the globe.
  • Updates on information, workshops, and activities of interest to NICHE members.
How Does The Leadership Training Program Work?
  • Eight-weeks of largely self-paced interactive learning modules.
  • Scheduled live webinars and group conference calls presented during the 6-week program.
  • Online activities complemented by practice-based assignments, done at your hospital, that reflect behavioral outcomes.
  • NICHE faculty from experienced sites facilitate online discussion forums and group conference calls, answer questions and share lessons learned, as you work on developing a plan, educating staff, and gaining support for implementing NICHE.
  • Program topics that include: an overview of NICHE models, staff education; other clinical, financial, and organizational measurement approaches to evaluate program effectiveness.
  • PowerPoint slides and streamed video.
  • Readings and assignments to guide the planning of NICHE implementation in your hospital (see attached outline) from: The 2013 NICHE Implementation and Planning Guide and the book, Evidence Based Geriatric Nursing Protocols for Best Practice.
  • Contact hours (30) will be available for participants.
At the end of the training program you will have time to develop an Action Plan, which will be reviewed and discussed with your team by a NICHE expert. This is an essential step in becoming a NICHE member. Updates of the action plan will be submitted at the three month, six month, and nine month marks to be reviewed by mentors.
