Course Description

The process of building a wind turbine involves basic electricity,
woodworking, metalworking, resin casting, and a variety of other
skills.  Each day will contain some brief discussion about the physics
behind wind turbines,  wind turbine design, and small wind power
systems.   During this workshop attendees will complete and test at
least one 7' diameter (300 Watt), 10'
diameter (700 Watt) and 12' diameter (1500 Watt) wind turbine.
We will build these machines 'from scratch'
starting with steel, copper wire, magnets, and wood for the blades.
These turbines are designed for battery charging systems.  Attendees
will learn about wind energy and how to build a wind turbine, they
will not take a wind turbine home with them, however ~ it is possible
that one or two machines will be available for purchase at the end of
the workshop, for the cost of materials.
