University of California Berkeley's Annual Summer Institute on Migration and Health offers researchers, faculty, graduate students and professionals working with migrant communities a unique opportunity to come and learn, from a binational perspective, different health issues that affect mobile populations.

The course is taught by highly recognized faculty from United States and Mexico allowing participants to gain insights from a global perspective. The three-day course offers a combination of lectures in different topics related to migration and health and a field trip to a Community Clinic and a special meeting with migrant workers leaders.

This Summer Institute is organized by the Health Initiative of the Americas of UC Berkeley's School of Public Health, and co-sponsored by the School of Medicine of the Benemerita Universidad Autonoma de Puebla, and the Center of Expertise on Migration and Health of the UC Global Health Institute.

Note: The presentations will be in English and Spanish. Please indicate in your registration form if you will need  simultaneous interpretation.

Preliminary Agenda Summer Institute 2010

Optional activity:

The UC Center of Expertise on Migration and Health (COEMH), a component of the UC-wide Global Health Insitute, will hold its annual, interdisciplinary Research Training Workshop on May 13-14 at UC San Diego. The workshop will serve as a showcase for research being undertaken by graduate students and recent postdoctoral scholars throughout the UC system relating to migration and health. U.C. faculty members will serve as discussants, providing expert feedback on the students' work and commenting on its relevance to their own research. Sessions will begin May 13th from 8:30 am through 12:00pm and on May 14. See Workshop Agenda

Summer Institute participants will be able to audit the Research Training Workshop at  no extra cost. If you would like to stay for the Research Training Workshop on May 13 and 14 you must mark this option during your Summer Institute on-line registration. Simultaneous interpretation will not be available during the Workshop.
