The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) National Institute of Justice (NIJ), in association with CTC, Inc.-Public Safety Technology Center (CTC), presents the 8th Annual Technologies for Critical Incident Preparedness Conference and Exposition.

Focusing on Prevention, Preparedness, Response and Recovery, this three-day conference will highlight the technology and training tools currently available and being developed for the emergency responder community to deal with major threats to lives and property, such as natural disasters and terrorist attacks. Conference speakers will include State and local public safety professionals, as well as Federal experts from the U.S. Departments of Justice (DOJ), Homeland Security (DHS), and Defense (DoD).

With 1,000+ attendees, 140 exhibits and 40 DOJ, DHS and DoD technology demonstrations expected, this conference offers a unique opportunity for emergency responders, business and industry, academia, and Federal, State, local, and tribal officials to network, exchange ideas, and address common critical incident technology and preparedness needs and solutions.

Along with State and local practitioners, the Federal government has a significant and primary role in the prevention of terrorist acts and in the response to the aftermath of such attacks as well as major natural disasters. Since 9-11, and to an even greater degree since the devastating hurricanes of 2005, technology development in support of homeland security, and specifically our Nation's infrastructure, has been a major focus. The need to continue to invest in critical incident preparedness and response, in addition to homeland security, will remain a major national interest for years.
