Pre-Conference Workshops

There will be two, concurrent pre-conference workshops held on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 from 2:00-6:00pm. You will be able to add these optional workshops to your registration. A snack break will be included with these workshops. The cost of each is $35 if you register on or before January 5, 2017 and $50 after that.

Let's Get Digital: A geospatial crash course for geospatial zeros to digital heros (3 Cat 1 CFEs)
This workshop will include the following sessions:

GeoSpatial Technology Introduction and Overview
(GPS, GIS, Lidar, and Drones explained, forestry applications, available resources)
John McGee, Virginia Geospatial Extension Specialist, Virginia Tech

Forestry Applications: Real Time Inventory, how to process data more efficiently to provide decision making information
Mark Milligan, President, F4 Tech

Forestry Applications: How to use GIS to create a system of engagement
Peter Eredics, Forest Manager, ESRI

Silvicultural Practices to Increase Forest Productivity (3 Cat 1 CFEs)
Thomas Fox, The Honorable Garland Gray Professor of Forestry, Virginia Tech

Covering the elements of forest productivity on managed plantations including: ecophysiology, soil properties, competition control, fertilization response, and financial analysis of silvicultural treatments

Spouse's Tour

Visit Monticello
Thursday, January 26 from 8:00am-12:00pm
Visit the home of Thomas Jefferson, overlooking his "University of Virginia" and discover what made this Founding Father and the principal author of the Declaration of Independence tick.

The all-inclusive tour of Monticello includes transportation to and from the conference hotel.
Cost is $40 if you register on or before January 5, 2017 and $60 after that.
