Women in Deep Foundations Networking Reception

At the conference on Tuesday, October 24 at 6:30 p.m., the Women in Deep Foundations (WiDF) Committee will host their third annual networking reception. Industry professionals can mingle and network with their peers, and enjoy a speed-networking session.  Space is limited.

At the reception, WiDF Committee Chair, Helen Robinson, will introduce the DFI Educational Trust's WiDF professional development grant recipients for 2017. Each grant will be awarded to women involved in design and/or construction of deep foundations and underwrite their attendance at the conference. The grant includes free conference registration and covers related expenses for attending the conference.

The DFI Women in Deep Foundations Committee is comprised of women and men who are advocates for retaining women in the deep foundations industry. The goal is to foster greater success and interest of professional women in the industry by promoting networking events, endorsing outreach and building mentoring relationships.

Companies are welcome to sponsor the reception and receive recognition on conference promotional materials, this website and event signage. Interested in sponsoring the reception? Register here.

Wednesday, October 25th
11:00 AM – 1:30 PM
Enjoy a two-hour cruise from the heart of the French Quarter that takes you back when cotton was king and life was slow and graceful as the current on the Mississippi. The tour will show you New Orleans, one of the world’s most active ports, as it can best be seen from the river aboard New Orleans’ only authentic Steamboat…The Steamboat NATCHEZ.

Thursday, October 26th
You will be treated to a guided tour through the fascinating circle that is the Crescent City: past, present and future. Starting where it all began, in the French Quarter.. travel down Esplanade Avenue, "Promenade of the Creoles," to languid Bayou St. John. Next, view the historic "dueling oak," the New Orleans Museum of Art, and the Botanical Gardens among the magnificent oaks of City Park. Sit under the oaks and enjoy a cup of New Orleans-brewed coffee and beignets. Next, the tour follows the crescent of the River to the old town of Carrollton and the route of the St. Charles Streetcar. Now in the heart of Uptown, some of the city's loveliest neighborhoods can be viewed. Following Uptown is the Garden District, which was once a thriving sugar plantation. Here Greek revival architecture and lush gardens delight the eye. Returning to the "new" city, the Central Business District, brings us full circle: New Orleans past, present and future.
