Here you will find answers to frequently asked questions regarding our festival. If your questions is still unanswered after reading through this document, feel free to contact Deb Shaw at deb.shaw@njaudubon.org or 609-400-3836.

Are transportation, meals or lodging included in the cost of registration, or provided for a supplemental fee?

No. The only case where we provide transportation are during Trolley trips where indicated, and you must be present at the point of departure, so transportation is required regardless.

During the Friday evening keynote presentation the cost does include heavy appetizers, and during the Saturday luncheon the cost includes lunch. Otherwise all meals are the responsibility of the participant.

Is there a paper registration form or only online registration?

All registration is ONLINE as of this year. If for some reason you cannot register online, you may call and register over the phone, or register in-person starting May 18th. Note that online registration guarantees you the best chance of getting into high-demand programs and events!!

When is the last day of online registration?

Online registration will close on Tuesday May 16th at 5:00pm. On-site registration opens on Thursday. May 18th, at 2:00pm in the lobby of The Grand Hotel of Cape May.

Where can I get breakfast/coffee early in the morning?

Several places will be open early during the festival, including the 24-hour Wawa convenience store at 1426 Texas Ave. (Cape May, NJ 08204), The Little Store at 1208 Route 109 (Cape May, NJ 08204) which opens at 6:00am, and others. Check back here for additions and updates as we get closer to the date.

What airport should I fly into?

Two nearby airports service the Cape May area, Philadelphia, PA (2 hours away (PHL)) and Atlantic City (1 hour away (ACY)).

Where can I rent a car?

Both regional airports have numerous rent-a-car agencies on site. Enterprise Rent-A-Car is the only agency in the immediate Cape May area (1030 Route 47 South, Rio Grande, NJ 08242; 609-886-6460), and advanced booking is recommended due to short supply.

Cape May also has Uber. www.uber.com

Can I rent binoculars?

With several hundred attendees we don't have a sufficient supply of loaners or rentals to go around, but we do have a few loaners available during the 2-Hour Walks; first come, first served.

There are several bike rental shops in town; here are two of them:
Shields Bike Rental 609-884-BIKE (2453) open 7am - 7pm. 11 Gurney St., Cape May, NJ 08204.
Cape Island Bike Rentals 609-884-8011. 135 Sunset Blvd. West Cape May, NJ 08204

The trolly/van trip I want to go on is full. Can I follow in my car?

No. Our trips are designed to give a fantastic experience based on a specific leader to participant ratio. Early registration will maximize your chance of getting into one of these exceptional excursions.

My child is a budding birder, what is the maximum age for free entry?

We love young birders! Most of our programs are geared towards adults but we want to accommodate people of all ages. Kids under 10 years old are free to accompany their registered parent or guardian.

If I have to cancel can I get credit toward another festival or other workshop/programs?

No, we are unable to apply cancelled fees to another program. Full refunds, minus a $50 processing fee, are available until May 10, after which no refunds will be issued.

Are trails wheelchair accessible?

Several of the sites we visit are wheelchair accessible or have wheelchair accessible components, these include Cox Hall Creek WMA, Cape May Point State Park, and The Nature Conservancy's Cape May Meadows* (*seasonal precipitation can preclude parts of the trail) and New Jersey Audubon's Center for Research and Education. Please let us know during registration whether you will be bringing a wheelchair so that we can work to accommodate you as much as possible.

I have dietary restrictions; can I request a special meal?

All buffets will include several vegetarian and gluten-free options. If your needs are outside of those, please let us know in advance and we will make every attempt to accommodate you, but cannot guarantee. In such cases plan accordingly by bringing your own food to events.
