Women in Deep Foundations Networking Reception

At the conference on Wednesday, October 24 at 6:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., the Women in Deep Foundations (WiDF) Committee will host their 4th Annual Networking Reception. Industry professionals can mingle to connect with their female and male colleagues to enjoy a speed-networking session, cocktails and great food. All are welcome, but space is limited. The event fee is $25.00.

At the reception, the DFI Educational Trust's WiDF Professional Development Grant Recipients for 2018 will be introduced. Each grant will be awarded to women involved in design and/or construction of deep foundations and underwrite their attendance at the conference. The grant includes free conference registration and covers related expenses for attending the conference.

The DFI Women in Deep Foundations Committee is comprised of women and men who advocate for the retention of women in the deep foundations industry. The goal is to foster greater success and interest of professional women in the industry by promoting networking events, endorsing outreach and building mentoring relationships.

Following the DFI Awards Reception at 6:30 p.m., During the DFI Awards Banquet on Friday, October 26, 2018, at 7:00 p.m., presentations will be made to honor various companies and individuals for their remarkable accomplishments.

Distinguished Service Award (DSA) Winner
DFI's Distinguished Service Award (DSA) was started in 1981 to recognize individuals who have made exceptionally valuable contributions to the advancement of the deep foundations industry. The institute is pleased to have selected Garland E. Likins, P.E., MSCE, as its 2018 Distinguished Service Award Recipient.

Likins’ lifetime work has helped transform the approach, practice and understanding of quality assurance regarding deep foundations thereby helping to create the modern testing industry and practice of deep foundation quality assurance that we take today for granted. Outstanding Project Award (OPA) Winner

  The Deep Foundations Institute (DFI) is proud to announce that Malcolm Drilling Company, Inc., Arup and Brierley Associates will receive DFI's 2018 Outstanding Project Award for the 181 Fremont Tower. The project is a mixed-use tower in the dense urban core of the South of Market District of San Francisco, California. This high-rise consists of 56 above ground floors with the roof level 700 feet high. Atop the roof, some architectural features including a spire tops out at just over 800 feet, which makes it currently the second tallest building in San Francisco. C. William Bermingham Innovation Award
  The C. William Bermingham Innovation Award was founded in 2012 to recognize the innovative spirit of Bill Bermingham, DFI past president, and his contributions to DFI and the deep foundations industry. This year's award recipient is the Soil Nail Launcher™ developed by Geostabilization International of Colorado. Bob Barrett, P.G., and Al Ruckman, P.E. are the brilliance behind this innovation and are founders of the company, a leading geohazard mitigation firm operating throughout the United States, Canada and New Zealand.     Refunds for Registration will not be issued after Friday, September 28, 2018. However, you may transfer your registration to another DFI Member. 
    Refunds for Exhibit Booths will not be issued after August 31, 2018. Please refer to your Exhibit Space Agreement for Details.

    Images of individuals may be captured by the Deep Foundations Institute (DFI) during events/activities organized and hosted by DFI using still photography, video or any other medium. DFI reserves the right to use such images on the DFI website, in Deep Foundations Magazine, in newsletters and/or other publicity material.
