Frequently Asked Questions

WHAT IF I NEED TO CANCEL MY REGISTRATION?
You can cancel your registration until February 11 and get a refund, less a $35 administrative fee. After that date,  refunds will not be issued. To cancel, contact us at 505-247-2336 ext. 101. No check or PO refunds can be made after Feb. 8 for conference session changes.

HOW DO I GET TO THE CONFERENCE?
Visit the Sandia Resort section on the conference page for a map. Sandia Resort is located at 30 Rainbow Road, NE, Albuquerque, NM 87113. From I-25 take the Tramway exit and head east. Turn into the parking lot and enter the Convention Center Entrance (east near the golf course) to avoid the casino.

DO I NEED TO CHECK IN EACH DAY?
No. You need to check in at the registration on your first day to get your packet. Once you have done that, you do not need to check in again.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR TO THE CONFERENCE?
The suggested dress for the conference is business casual (comfortable clothes and shoes are fine as a bit of walking is involved). It is extremely difficult to regulate the room temperatures so we strongly recommend you bring a sweater, light jacket or shawl as the room temperatures vary.

HOW CAN I ACCESS HANDOUTS?
In an effort to be green, speakers will not provide copies of handouts or their PowerPoint presentations. Many presenters will provide an electronic version of their handouts on our website for you to view and/or print off what you want. These will be posted in late January at http://www.naswnm.org/annual-conference/.

HOW/WHEN DO I GET MY CEU’S?
CEU’s will be distributed at the end of the last day you attend. If you are attending the full conference, you will pick up your certificate at the end of the day on Thursday. Each attendee will need to fill out on online evaluation after the event; computers will not be available at the conference so it is your responsibility to complete the survey on your own.  The Board of social work performs random audits, so it is suggested you should keep your conference materials.

If you do not pick up your certificate onsite or if you lose your certificate and require a duplicate copy, there will be a $25 fee. You will need to call the chapter office at 505-247-2336 to make arrangements.

HOW DO I GET MY CULTURAL CEU’S?
You are required to obtain 6 cultural CEU’s bi-annually for licensure. The cultural CEU’s will be included on your overall CEU certificate. It is up to you to note which cultural sessions you attended, as these need to be listed on your license renewal application. It is strongly recommended that you place the conference program and your name tag that lists your sessions in a file so you may reference it when you need it. The office will not provide individuals with their workshop choices at time of license renewal.

CAN I CHANGE MY SESSION?
Space is limited in some rooms and once full these sessions will be closed. It is encouraged that you carefully make your workshop choices when you register and stick with those. If you do decide to go to a workshop to can go back and edit your original registration as long as space is available in the session you want.  It is up to you to fill out the online evaluation form based on the sessions you attended; your CEU (including the number of cultural CEU’s) is based off this information.

WHY DON’T WE HOLD THE CONFERENCE IN LESS EXPENSIVE HOTELS?
Few hotels can hold our conference. The combination of 5-6 breakout sessions at a time, an exhibit hall, general sessions of 700+ people, ample sleeping rooms, and adequate parking limit our options. Sandia Resort fits all our needs. You can avoid the casino completely by parking by and using the Convention Center Entrance on the east side of the building.

WHAT MEALS ARE INCLUDED?
We will have breakfast on Tuesday for those who sign up, coffee and light snacks available during the other mornings and afternoons; all other meals are on your own. There is a concession stand set up for attendees with affordable options, the hotel has a restaurant and some less expensive delis.

WHAT IF I HAVE SPECIAL DIETARY NEEDS?
Feel free to bring a sack lunch is necessary.

WHERE DO I EAT AT THE CONFERENCE?

There are many dining options throughout Sandia Resort:
P'a Shur Deli $2-$6
Kowira Grill $2-$6
Council Room $7-$15
Thur Shan Buffet $15
