  AFCEA TechNet Marianas 2012:
Convergence of Strategy and Technology for the 21st Century

The Marianas Chapter of AFCEA is presenting our 4th consecutive annual Technology Conference and Expo.  The chapter would like to take this opportunity to warmly welcome our new members and member organizations, Industry Representatives, Government and Military Representatives, and our special friends from Academia.  Our chapter members encourage all professionals in Communications, IT, Intelligence, and Security to make plans to attend the AFCEA TechNet Marianas 2012 – New Focus on the Western Pacific: Convergence of Strategy and Technology for the 21st Century.  This theme is appropriate and well-timed with regard to the recent changes in strategy and focus within the military and throughout the federal government.

This year we build on our previous year’s successes and continue to explore new opportunities and initiatives within our economic sphere of influence.  Our goal is to address relevant topics of interest to our community and to bring together leaders in our field to help improve our understanding of future opportunities.  Our slate of guest speakers and committed industry representatives this year ensures we will meet and exceed these goals.  We are especially encouraged by the early interest shown by industry leaders who have attended in previous years.
The national and international press has recently highlighted topics related to our theme this year.  Article subjects have ranged from the military buildup on Guam to improved economic performance in the region and the emergence of new business opportunities, both on Guam and in the surrounding countries.  It appears that world interest is shifting from other regions in the world to the Western Pacific.  Our island’s location and status as the communications hub of the Western Pacific enhances our ability to support the communications requirements resulting from these new developments.

AFCEA – Marianas Chapter is building on our previous annual themes in an effort to educate our members and guests on opportunities resident on Guam and in the surrounding countries and communities near Guam.   Our guest speakers this year are on the cutting edge of these changes and possess the latest information available.  Our information forums will also discuss subjects related to this year’s theme.  Through these events and with the help and support of our industry partners this year’s TechNet 2012 will be exciting and will expand your knowledge concerning this part of the world.  This event will be the place to be to stay connected to leading edge technology and to stay current with the world of communication and IT.  We want to thank the Hyatt Regency Guam for their support in providing this distinctive opportunity to mix and meet, to learn and share, as well as to promote and collaborate.

We would also like to thank our new support partner, Glimpses Advertising, for helping to plan and execute TechNet 2012 on Guam.
