Course Description and Statement of Need
Organized at the birthplace of Consultation Psychiatry, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, this course is designed to meet the needs of psychiatrists and other clinicians who are interested in acquiring current knowledge on the most optimal application of evidence-based models during the course of providing as well as requesting psychiatric consultation in the medical and surgical settings. 

This one day conference will include lectures, clinical vignettes and group discussions. Clinical application of presented material will be provided using real-world case examples by the presenters. Participants will acquire updated skills in the application of evidence-based evaluation and treatment of both common and specialized psychiatric problems

Educational Objectives
  • Apply learned knowledge and skills in the evaluation and management of common problems in medical and surgical settings such as of change of mental status, decisional capacity, and emergency evaluations
  • Appropriately evaluate and manage patients with special needs, including patients with pain, organ transplants, cardiac issues, surgical/trauma needs, neurological problems, cancer, women, both before and after deliver, and children
  • Clearly articulate the questions and expectations of a psychiatric consultation    
Accreditation Statement
Cedars-Sinai Medical Center is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Credit Designation
Cedars-Sinai Medical Center designates this live activity for a maximum of  6.5  AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM.  Physicians should claim only credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

The California State Board of Registered Nursing accepts courses approved by the ACCME for category 1 credit as meeting the continuing education requirements for license renewal.
