Wet happens.
Make sure it can dry.

Course Information:
In our wet climate and flood-prone region, keeping a wood frame house dry is the single most important factor for durability, to prevent mold, and to ensure customer satisfaction. Yet, the more energy-efficient the house, the more important and challenging it is to keep it dry and prevent an all-too-common and costly source of call-backs. Restoring a flooded home compounds the challenge.

At this seminar, you’ll learn about:
  • key water shedding design guidelines,
  • crucial flashing and weather barrier details with common mistakes,
  • “best practice” methods and alternatives,
  • moisture management insights to prevent hidden condensation and mold,
  • how to prevent and solve cupped wood flooring and subfloor rot,
  • HVAC mistakes and solutions for humidity control,
  • products now available that can make it easier to keep it dry, AND
  • strategies for restoring flooded home to be dry and flood-hardy.
The program will include a hands-on tour of LaHouse Resource Center's moisture control and flood-hardy assemblies, exhibits and products. Attendees will also receive a packet of materials relevant to the topic.
