Welcome to the second Resource Association Conference: resources, jobs and growth: building a shared agenda for the circular economy. This event promises to directly address the value and the potential in the resources sector to deliver green growth and job creation through adding value to resources too often in the past seen as waste, and as a problem.

The notion of the circular economy is taking hold, and policy makers are starting to show signs of interest.  We see the potential as deep and wide ranging – not just about the inherent value to the circular economy of recycling and reprocessing as an integral element in its success, but also the potential for more re-use, repair, remanufacturing and a new generation of eco-industrial development that delivers economic, environmental and social benefits.

At the conference, a new report from the Institute of Public Policy Research will be launched, supported by the Resource Association.  This report will examine a range of policy proposals that could be adopted to support the delivery of these valuable objectives – better use of resources, sustainable job creation and genuine economic development.  We are delighted to be associated with this contribution to policy debate, and we hope that today’s event will provide a strong springboard for debating the findings of the research and its wider dissemination to policy makers and politicians.

We are also pleased to welcome Defra Resources Minister Dan Rogerson MP who will deliver a closing keynote speech and join speakers and yourselves for questions at the end of the final session.

Join us for a stimulating day of debate about future policy potential and inspirational case studies of businesses already starting to make the circular economy work today.

A Pre-Conference Summer Reception will be held at the National Liberal Club on the evening of the 8 July.  The pre-event will offer delegates and Resource Association members a great opportunity to meet with industry peers, government departments and other member’s at the most splendid terrace in London.
