Course Description and Statement of Need

The State-of-the-Art Spine Care conference will focus on up to the moment information on the management of spine patients for the primary care and first contact providers.  The faculty will be comprised of recognized spine specialists who will present lectures focusing on evaluation and conservative treatment of spinal problems, imaging and techniques available for assistance in diagnosis of a spine problem, pain management, current spine techniques and technologies, and management of the pre and post-surgical spine patient. Participants will have several opportunities for discussion and are encouraged to join faculty for discussions and debates regarding all topics.

Target Audience
This educational activity is intended for physicians within family practitioners, internists, neurologists, physiatrists, obstetricians/gynecologists, nurse practitioners and physician assistants.

Educational Objectives     
  • Differentiate symptoms of common spinal disorders and perform tests and imaging to confirm diagnosis.
  • Illustrate new pain management techniques, and identify when the use of conservative care is more appropriate than surgical intervention.
  • Properly manage the post-surgical patient.
  • Summarize the most current techniques and technologies for treating spinal disorders and recognize when to refer a patient for specialized care.

Accreditation Statement
Cedars-Sinai Medical Center is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Credit Designation Statement
Cedars-Sinai Medical Center designates this live activity for a maximum of 7 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

The California State Board of Registered Nursing accepts courses approved by the ACCME for category 1 credit as meeting the continuing education requirements for license renewal.
