Invitation

Dear Rectors, Deans, colleagues and Representatives of the Member Faculties of the European Association of Establishments for Veterinary Education, As Principal of the Royal Veterinary College (RVC), it is my pleasure to invite you to the 30th General Assembly of the European Association of Establishments for Veterinary Education to be hosted at the RVC on 18th & 19th May 2017. The Assembly will take place on both of the college’s campuses, one in the heart of London, the other in countryside of Hertfordshire.

It is fitting that you visit us in the year we celebrate the RVC’s 225th anniversary. As we mark the occasion of 225 years since the RVC was established, we honour those pioneers who preceded us - from the first few educators and students, to the many who have made breakthroughs in science and veterinary practice.

The enrolment of the first veterinary students in 1791 marked the emergence of the veterinary profession in Britain; students and teaching have been at the very heart of the College’s mission ever since.

The first of the two days of the 30th EAEVE General Assembly will take place at our Camden campus. This is the EAEVE General Assembly and business day. On the 19th May we will transport you to our Hertfordshire campus for the Education Programme. This will focus on competence based training and assessment and we welcome speakers from around the world including AAVMC and VetMed Uni Vienna. In the afternoon we will hear from VEtNorth Japan about their experiences with EAEVE accreditation. The day will conclude with a Gala Dinner at the nearby historic Hatfield House and as usual arrangements will be made to facilitate those wishing to find time to explore London at the weekend. We are looking forward to seeing you in May 2017 at the Royal Veterinary College.

Professor Stuart Reid
Principal, Royal Veterinary College.
