CROSSING THE THRESHOLD - "Transitioning from Youth to Adulthood"
Focused on the mental health & service needs of transition-aged youth, age 16 - 24. This annual symposium offers opportunities for the attendees to explore new mental health treatment and prevention models, attend experiential learning sessions, and network with individuals from within and outside of Virginia who want to advance school and community mental health to better address the needs of our youth.
The 55th Annual Symposium, CROSSING THE THRESHOLD, will explore the developmental milestones of transition-aged youth; the complex needs of unique populations and the latest research on improving access to and improving the quality of mental health care for children and their families navigating the transition to adulthood through schools and other non-traditional delivery systems. The symposium's learning tracks include Prevention; Treatment; Community School, Family Interventions and Complex Needs.


1.   Understand the current research and practices in mental health, substance abuse, and developmental disabilities for transition aged youth related to access and the quality of care that contributes to resiliency and healthy development.

2.   Identify best practice prevention and intervention for use in schools, colleges, behavioral health setting, and work force development centers.

3.   Identify resources to assist families, schools, and communities prevent trauma and build partnerships that strengthen the success rate of youth, with mental health and other disabilities, navigate the transition to adulthood.

This symposium has been approved for .8 CEU's and 8 contact hours.

         Early Bird Rate:
    $99.00 per person till 4/14/2017. 
    Fee after 4/14/2017 is $110.00

    Group Rate:
    If four individuals from the same organization register together than the fifth registration is free.  All five individuals must register as a group and pay under one card.
