Rocky Mountain Highlights in Gastroenterology and Hepatology

(including highlights from DDW 2017, AASLD 2016, EASL 2017)

This one day course is intended for Gastroenterology and Hepatology professionals including primary care physicians, specialty physicians, physician’s assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, and research staff.  The course faculty will address topics on Liver Disease and Transplantation, Therapeutic Endoscopy, Colonoscopy and Colon Cancer, Inflammatory Bowel Disease and Esophageal and Functional disorders

Course Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

- Summarize the most recent and updated guidelines in the screening and surveillance for colorectal cancer and hereditary colon cancer
-Identify patients who require inpatient management of inflammatory bowel disease and summarize the indications for initiation of biologic agents in these patients
- Implement key quality meters in GI (endoscopy and Barrett's esophagus)
- Develop an algorithm for non-invasive testing to diagnose liver diseases
- Assess individuals who are candidates for live liver donor transplantation
