Conference Summary*

Seven committees of Deep Foundations Institute (DFI) will combine their industry expertise to organize a 2-day technical conference on the effective application of deep foundations, ground improvement, and soil mixing for stabilization of slopes and excavation support.

On Monday, August 28, the Landslides & Slope Stabilization, and the Tiebacks and Soil Nailing committees will meet in the afternoon to discuss progress on various committee projects. The Women in Deep Foundation Committee is also planning to sponsor an evening baseball game featuring the Washington Nationals vs. the Miami Marlins at the Nationals Park at 7:05 pm.

On Tuesday, August 29 and Wednesday, August 30 there will be plenary sessions of presentations and lectures by industry experts on current technologies, key design concepts and case histories that illustrate effective application of deep foundations for stabilization of slopes and excavation support. Recent and future projects will be presented that include challenging slope and landslide repairs and excavation support with deep foundation methods. Equipment, material and instrumentation suppliers, contractors, engineers, and other vendors will present their services in our Exhibit Hall.
