"Anti-Biofilm Technologies: Pathways to Product Development"
February 6-7, 2018
Hilton Crystal City Hotel, Arlington, Virginia

The Center for Biofilm Engineering is pleased to announce that registration is open for its annual regulatory meeting "Anti-Biofilm Technologies: Pathways to Product Development."

Over the past decade, academic research advances and private company R&D efforts have led to the development of innovative anti-biofilm technologies with transformative potential in the consumer products and healthcare arenas. Likewise, advances in methods for studying and assessing biofilms have provided new insights into important biofilm characteristics such as why biofilms are difficult to kill and remove from surfaces.

The CBE is sponsoring this meeting for the fifth consecutive year in an effort to share recent scientific advances in anti-biofilm technologies and the impact on consumer products and healthcare. The meeting will feature speakers from academia, industry, and regulatory agencies on topics including new anti-biofilm technologies, methods for assessing their efficacy, and how these advances can lead to products for the enhancement of health and safety. There are sessions related to products regulated by both EPA (surface disinfectants) and FDA (medical devices), with a panel discussion following each session.

The regulatory meeting will be held on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 in Arlington, Virginia, and will include morning and afternoon sessions and hosted continental breakfast and lunch.

Workshop:
CBE will again be presenting a workshop on February 6th, one day prior to the regulatory meeting. The workshop will focus on three pertinent areas of current research: industrial biofilms, food-related biofilms, and medical biofilms. The topics will be presented in plenary sessions, which will include presentations from industry, academia and regulatory agencies, as well as discussion sessions following each topic area.
