FMCSA Correlation Study Action Plan Public Meeting

Friday, September 8, 2017; 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM
FMCSA National Training Center
1310 N. Courthouse Road
Suite 600
Arlington, VA 22201-2508

On June 27, 2017, the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) published its report, titled “Improving Motor Carrier Safety Measurement” (read the report). This report was commissioned by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) to comply with the requirements of Section 5221 of the Fixing America’s Surface Transportation (FAST) Act. The FAST Act also requires that the Agency develop an action plan to address any identified deficiencies and submit it to Congress and the U.S. Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Office of the Inspector General (OIG).

Meeting attendees will hear from representatives of the NAS panel about their research methodology and the six recommendations they provided to FMCSA. Presentation of each recommendation, will be followed by an input session. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions of the panel members and  FMCSA representatives, and provide feedback that will help shape FMCSA’s action plan.

For those who cannot attend in person, a virtual option is also available. Virtual attendees will be able to fully participate via a live webinar, which will allow them to follow along with the meeting presentation and materials, as well as submit questions or input. Note that spaces for both the in-person meeting and the webinar are limited.
