This class is designed to provide the basics of governmental accounting  for “GAAP Basis”. The session is for individuals who work with or in the area of local government accounting but have little or no formal training. It is a great class for
any staff (management, department heads, or other departments) who has limited exposure to governmental accounting and needs or wants to understand more. The class agenda will include:
  • Fund Accounting
  • Fund Types & Measurement Focus
  • BARS – What and Why
  • Revenues and Other Financing Sources
  • Expenditures and Other Financing Uses
  • Inter-fund Activity
  • Debt Service
  • Budgeting
  • Reporting

There are exercises throughout the class so the participant can apply class room teachings to every day working examples. The format is intended to provide a learning environment that is relatable to the attendees working environment.

The class provides an excellent foundation on “GAAP Basis” governmental accounting in accordance with GASB accounting standards.
