Map and Directions
The NIH Toolbox® Training Workshop is a 1.5 day, intensive workshop on how to administer NIH Toolbox measures using the NIH Toolbox® iPad app. Sessions will teach the basic knowledge and skills to familiarize users with the administration of the NIH Toolbox® iPad app self- and proxy-report measures of emotional function and the performance-based tests of cognitive, motor, and sensory function.

On Monday, September 17, the HealthMeasures team will also host a one-day PROMIS Training Workshop. If you are interested in learning about PROMIS and the NIH Toolbox, you are invited to register for both trainings. Click here to learn more about the PROMIS training.

The cost is $250 for the PROMIS Training and $350 for the NIH Toolbox® Training Workshop*, or we will offer a $500 discounted package if you register for both the PROMIS and NIH Toolbox® Training Workshops. Registration includes continental breakfast and afternoon snacks on each day.

Questions about the combined training or about how to receive the discounted package should be directed via email to Justin Jones at

*The registration fee includes a day and a half of instruction, a copy of the NIH Toolbox® Administrator's Manual, continental breakfast and afternoon snacks.

All attendees required to bring their own iPad*, with the NIH Toolbox® iPad app installed. To get the app, visit the App Store on your iPad, or follow this link:

You are required to bring your own iPad* and wireless keyboard**with the NIH Toolbox® app installed, for use during the training.  This will allow you to set up and retain any test batteries and practice participants that are created during the session. All other equipment and manuals will be provided. Please also bring a wireless keyboard if you plan to administer the Cognition Battery.

*To do this:

1. Bring an iPad Air 2, with Wi-Fi capacity, running iOS 8.4 or later.

For the purposes of training, you may use the app on a regular iPad.  However, the iPad app has not been validated to run on the other versions of the iPad.

For data collection you should use the recommend iPad Air 2, with Wi-Fi capacity, along with the recommended operating system (iOS 9 and later).

2. **A keyboard that is connected to your iPad directly with a cord may be used at the workshop; however, you will need a wireless keyboard for proper administration in your work, which is why we highly encourage bringing a wireless keyboard to the training if at all possible.
