New Challenges, New Thinking:  Keeping Up with the Evolving Audit Landscape

The auditing profession continues to evolve to address both new and ongoing challenges.  This year’s Forum will provide information and inspiration for dealing with issues such as bias, integrity, and improving communication with our audience. Dr. Tammy Waymire, Associate Professor of Accounting at Middle Tennessee State University, will talk on “Unconscious Bias and Ethics in Government Decisionmaking.”  Geoff Jenista of the Office of Cybersecurity & Communications, U.S. Department of Homeland Security, will talk about cybersecurity, and the role auditors can play in keeping taxpayers’ (and agencies’) information secure.  Eric Roche, Chief Data Officer, Office of the City Manager of Kansas City, MO, will explain why “Your Charts Suck,” and Colin J. Fallon, a Senior Communications Analyst at the U.S. Government Accountability Office’s (GAO) Forensic Audits and Investigative Service, will conduct a writing workshop aimed at helping you craft better audit reports.  Finally, Nancy Campbell, Chief Thinking Officer at LeaderFuelNow, will speak on “Effective Workplace Communication” as well as “Problem Solving and Decision-Making.”

In addition to these speakers, Forum members will conduct roundtables on emerging issues and high-impact audits.  This year’s Forum promises to be packed with new information and ideas; we hope you can attend!
