Day 1 - November 3, 2009
Harnessing Energy Sensory Tools and Techniques for Responsible Learning

Sensory Integration frame of reference addresses energy self-regulation and sensory impairments that limit attention and learning, and provides loads of sensory and motor tools and techniques for use at home and in the classroom. Included are the Sensory Observations and Strategies form and the Zone’in Recommended Tools and Techniques handouts.  Zone’in Program is profiled.

Back to Basics Printing Skills – The Forgotten Foundation of Literacy

Fine Motor Development frame of reference addresses why children can’t print and read, and what to do about it. Teacher printing instruction in primary grades is 14 minutes per day, resulting in inconsistent, slow printing output, and poor letter recognition for reading. Included are the Fine Motor Observations and Strategies form, the Foundation Scale for Grades K-6 and the Printing Basics Guide handouts. Move’in Program is profiled.

Day 2 - November 4, 2009
A Cracked Foundation How Virtual Parenting is Destroying Our Children

Attachment and Addiction frames of reference address the importance of healthy attachment formation in children, and profile rising incidence of attachment disorders, technology addictions and virtual parenting.  Teachers and therapists can make a difference!  Included are the Attachment Questionnaire, the Inner Drive Directive for Home and Critical Factors for Child Development handouts.

Mixed Signals Connection to Technology is Disconnecting Child Development

Technology Balance frame of reference. Children now use an average 8 hours per day of combined technology, negatively impacting on physical, mental, social and academic success.  Education regarding the latest technology research and new Balanced Technology Management initiatives are covered. Included are the Technology Addiction Questionnaire, 10 Steps to Unplug Your Children and the Unplug – Don’t Drug Directive handouts.

Day 3 - November 5, 2009
Why Can’t Children Sit Still? The Importance of Movement and Play for Child Development

Science of Attention and Learning frame of reference explores the biology behind how movement and exposure to “green space” improve attention and learning, and how to incorporate these activities into classrooms.  Rising levels of development delays and learning disabilities require teachers use techniques that enhance child development. Included are the Nature Directive, Child Development Directive and the Creating Zone’in Stations handouts.

Diminishing Returns How to Increase Profits in the Classroom

Successful Schools frame of reference addresses declining literacy, student productivity, and behavior management, and provides strategies in the areas of classroom, gym and playground modifications to ensure student and school success.  Included are the Productivity Designs for Classroom and Gym, the Zone’in Gym Stations, Playground Structures and the Inner Drive Directive for School handouts.
