Program Overview:
To meet the demand for second-language educators who can incorporate business content into sound language education, the Penn Lauder CIBER Summer Institute trains educators in curriculum and lesson planning oriented toward professional content and contexts. The Summer Institute focuses on a learner-centered approach to business language instruction.

The Summer Institute is aimed at second-language educators with little business knowledge. Topics covered include: Business Fundamentals; Teaching Business Language Methodology; Curriculum Design Exercises.

How to Apply:
Participants are required to submit a CV, a sample syllabus (of a business language course or general language course) and a sample lesson plan so as to help us better manage the profiles and expectations for the program.

During registration you will be asked to upload a sample lesson plan and sample syllabus; please use the Lesson Plan Template and Syllabus Template provided.

Expenses:
The fee for the Summer Institute is $450, which covers all program materials as well as breakfast and lunch each day. If you come with a colleague you are eligible to receive 20% off the Institute cost, bringing the total to $360. Please note: if you register with a colleague you will be asked the full name and email of your colleague during the application process.

Credits:
Act 48 credit and New Jersey Professional Development credit are available upon completion of the Institute.

Deadline:
The deadline to register for the Summer Institute is May 31st 2011.
