This is the sixth year we have built our conference around skill-building tracks in which nationally known practitioners will share therapeutic methodologies and techniques in interactive ways. Attendees will learn to perform them during the conference and be able to utilize these techniques when they return to work. This year’s conference focuses on positive personal growth , which can occur in all relationships, and in many settings – not only in the psychotherapist’s office. Interestingly, the factors that promote or hinder growth are similar, whether in psychotherapy, relationships or in sports. Jerome Frank identified the useful components of all forms of psychotherapy: the relationship and setting, the therapist’s conceptual scheme and procedure or ritual based on this conceptualization. This understanding can be expanded to most settings whether at work, with patients or in intimate relationships. During this year’s interactive skill-building conference, attendees will learn some of the key principles and techniques that promote growth with a variety of patients and clients, in different settings, as well as within us. The goal of this year’s conference is to enhance our work by learning practical skills that promote change and growth in therapy, groups, sports, and in our own lives.
