Conference Lecturers

The Keynote Lecturer for this conference is Silas C. Nichols, P.E., Principal Geotechnical Engineer for the USDOT, Federal Highway Administration. His presentation, Understanding Performance and Service Life for Geotechnical Features, will take place on Wednesday, October 22, 2014, at 8:40am.

Special Guest Lecturer, Ernest A. Drott, P.E., PMP of USACE Great Lakes and Ohio River Division, will present during the opening session about U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' Alternative Resourcing and Delivery Program. The presentation is on Wednesday, October 22, 2014, at 9:35am.

DFI's annual Hal Hunt Lecture on Communications will be presented by Paul W. Mayne, Ph.D., P.E., Professor of Geosystems Engineering at the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Georgia Tech. His presentation will take place during the business Meeting Luncheon on Thrusday, October 23, 2014, at 1:30pm and will address Geotechnical Site Characterization: Communicating Between Planet Earth and the Pile Designer".

Professional Development Hours

DFI estimates the general Professional Development Hours for this conference at between 11-13.5 hours. This is only an estimate. For New York, PDHs will be determined when approval is received from the Practicing Institute of Engineers. 

An increasing number of professional engineering licensing organizations require members to pursue professional development on a formal basis. DFI is pleased to provide a general Certificate of Participation for all its technical programs. This certificate is accepted by most licensing boards and serves documentation of your pursuit of continuing education credits. There are some states that may not accept the general DFI certificate. Attendees are responsible for determining whether or not DFI PDHs are accepted by their respective licensing board. 

Florida: DFI is an approved provider of PDHs in the state of Florida. DFI's approval number is 4072. Registered professional engineers (P.E.s) in Florida who wish to submit attendance at a DFI event as part of their Florida license renewal MUST include their Florida State P.E. License Number on their Registration Form. Each event is handled separately so registering for one event with your license number does not register you for other events for license renewal. 

New York: Approved New York State (NYS) Professional Development Hours are sought for all DFI events from the Practicing Institute of Engineers. PDHs will be determined when approval is received. Those individuals requiring NYS approved hours must follow the guidelines and procedures requested by event management to qualify. The procedure typically includes the need to sign-in at the entrance of the Session Room as proof of your attendance at the entire event. This procedure is subject to change.

  • You may register using a major Credit Card or PayPal. You may also register and pay later by a Check made payable to Deep Foundations Institute (Memo: 2014 Annual Conference) or by Purchase Order. 

    Cancellations must be made in writing by e-mail, mail or fax.

    No refunds for Exhibit Booths after Sunday, August 31, 2014. Reference the Exhibit Space Agreement for details.

    No refunds for Attendee Registration after Friday, September 26, 2014, however you can transfer your registration to another DFI Member.

    Images of individuals may be captured by the Deep Foundations Institute (DFI) during events/activities organized and hosted by DFI using still photography, video or any other medium. DFI reserves the right to use such images on the DFI website, in Deep Foundations Magazine, in newsletters and/or other publicity material. By registering and/or participating in a DFI event/activity, the persons whose images are captured during such an event consent to the use of said images by DFI as described above.
