                               presented by Ken Ferrie
Ken will cover the balance sheet of tillage systems, including no-till, and provide a foundation for understanding uniform soil density. He will take a look at the positive and negative effects of tillage and possible pitfalls of tillage run wrong. Parameters and tools to measure soil health will also be covered. He will discuss what it truly means to farm in a vertical format.

9:30 – 10:30 a.m. Water Management
  presented by Isaac Ferrie
This session will cover the different aspects of soil types and characteristics that affect water management. Subjects will include tile depth and spacing, VRT irrigation and current tools that are on the market to help manage water during the growing season. Considerations for using cover crops based on geography and agronomic goals will also be covered.

Breakout 2:  Tillage In-Field Diagnostics presented by Brad Beutke
Participants will look at several soil pits showing the effects of different tillage passes and how that plays into water management.

Breakout 3: Soil Density Simulation presented by Isaac Ferrie
In this hands-on interactive simulation, participants will make decisions regarding nitrogen
management, weed management and stand establishment to see how their preferred soil
density system compares to others in the session. The team with the best outcome wins.

Breakout 4: Up to the Axles: How to Tow
presented by Fred Whitford, Purdue University Whether it’s pickup trucks, tractors and tillage tools or sprayers, this session will detail the do’s and don’ts of getting equipment out of the mud, including the products and tools available to keep retailers and employees safe.
