2014 Tentative Agenda*

7:00 - 7:30 a.m. Registration & Hot Breakfast
7:30 - 8:20 a.m. General Session: Implementing the Systems
                         Approach in Crop Production presented by
                         Missy Bauer

Using the Systems Approach pyramid this session will teach participants how to overcome yield limiting factors to increase corn and soybean yields. To obtain high yields, the entire system must be managed correctly. Learn the importance of each step and how the Systems Approach will help reach your goal of increased yields.

8:20- 9:10 a.m. General Session: Master Emergence for Higher
                         Yields presented by Missy Bauer

The microenvironment around the seed, corn stand establishment and the importance of uniformity across a field will be the main topics covered in this session. Starting with the Systems Approach from planter setup to evaluating the growth, development, and timing of stress on the plant will help farmers ratchet up their corn yields.

9:10 - 9:40 a.m. Break

9:40 - 10:30 a.m. General Session: Using Zone Management with 
                           Your Customers presented by Brad Beutke

This session will cover developing management zones, the importance of ground truthing and steps to adapt variable rate applications. It will also show the benefit of zone management versus grid systems.

10:30 - 11:30 a.m. Breakout 1: Identifying Corn’s Yield Limiting
                            Factors presented by Bill Bauer

Participants will use in-field corn diagnostics to evaluate where problems are arising and develop solutions to improve uniformity across the field. The goal of uniformity is to have picket fence stands and photo copied plants and ears.
11:30 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. Lunch

12:15 - 1:15 p.m. Breakout 2: In the Field: Soybean Growth
                          Stages presented by Brad Beutke

This breakout will focus on the fundamentals of the stages of soybean growth and yield components. This hands-on session will allow participants to gather and identify the reproductive stages, timing of stress, pest pressure and pod counts.

1:15 - 2:15 p.m. Breakout 3: Keys to Evaluate Nitrogen
                         Programs presented by Missy Bauer

This session will include an overview of the nitrogen cycle including carbon penalty and residue management. This session will dive deep in nitrogen losses, weather issues, ID deficiency and nitrate, ammonium and tissue sampling.

2:15 - 2:45 p.m. Break

2:45 - 3:35 p.m. General Session: Provide Top Notch Customer
                         Care presented by Fred Whitford

Success as a retailer depends on the ability to customize the delivery of information and help farmers understand how new products, services, and opportunities benefit their farming operations. Learn how to answer questions, conduct work and deliver results to improve your ag retail business.

3:35 - 4:25 p.m. General Session: Integrating the Latest
                        Technologies on the Farm presented by
                        Brad Beutke

Technology now touches every aspect of the farm. Whether it’s to improve yields, scouting procedures or equipment efficiencies, this session will cover the latest technologies farmers are using to increase their agronomic goals.
4:25 - 5:00 p.m. Open Agronomic Q&A With All Presenters
