About Pearlstone Conference and Retreat Center

Nestled in the countryside outside of Baltimore, Maryland, Pearlstone is a kosher Jewish facility and is warm and welcoming to everyone. All of the rooms have free Wi-Fi access and are handicap accessible. Check in time is 3pm, and check out time is 10am. There will be a room where you can leave your luggage before check in and after check out.

The Pearlstone kosher meals are tasty, with some of the food coming from its organic farm. In order to be mindful of their kosher certification, we cannot bring outside food or drinks, or food or drink containers, into the main building, which includes the dining room, meeting rooms and deck. So, as part of our mindfulness practice, and our respect for others, we’ll leave our water bottles and food  that we bring from home in the sleeping areas. Coffee, tea, water and other beverages are available in the lobby of the main building whenever that building is open. Pearlstone is happy to accommodate all sorts of dietary needs. Please specify these on your registration form.

NOTE: We have had so many people register for our Conference that we have taken over all the entire Pearlstone Conference and Retreat Center for the duration of the Conference, and we are in the process of securing space at a nearby hotel for more Trager folks! The rates for staying at a hotel will be the same as staying at Pearlstone. You can go ahead and register now, and we will let you know about the room.

At Pearlstone, the number of hotel-style rooms, especially single rooms, is limited, so register early for these. Both the double and single hotel-style rooms have 2 queen-size beds and a private bathroom. There is a limited number of cots which can also be put into these rooms.

Five dorm-style rooms with several common bathrooms are located around a large lounge area. We’ve reserved the whole upstairs floor here. One handicapped-accessible dorm-style room has two twin beds and a private bathroom. The other dorm-style rooms have a mixture of twin and bunk beds for 3 to 6 people. Some workshops will take place in the lounge area.

Guests are provided linens, a pillow and towels for the duration of their stay and also soap and shampoo (no hairdryers provided). There is no daily housekeeping in the rooms. Linens and towels will be changed mid-stay for guests staying 6 days.  TV’s, DVD’s and small refrigerators are located in the lounge rooms, and there are a limited number of refrigerators which can be requested in rooms in advance.

See PearlstoneCenter.org for more information.

About Transportation to Pearlstone:

Closest airport: Baltimore Washington International - BWI

We recommend that you fly into BWI instead of Dulles or Reagan National Airports, because of the distance and the cost. It takes around 1/2 hour to drive the 29 miles from BWI to Pearlstone, longer in rush-hour traffic and possibly longer in a shared van. Dulles and Reagan are more than twice as far away from Pearlstone, and it can take 1.5 hours to travel to Pearlstone from those airports, and even longer in rush-hour traffic or in a shared van.

If you indicate that you want to share a shuttle or cab from an airport or train station to Pearlstone, we will see if there are other Conference attendees who will be arriving near the time you arrive. We will contact you with their information so you can arrange to meet at the airport or train station and travel to Pearlstone together.

The Super Shuttle Blue Van charges $42 for the first person and $12 for each additional person, plus the shuttle website suggests a tip of 18% - 20% (max 10 passengers in a van). You don’t need to make a reservation ahead of time. You would “check in” at one of the SuperShuttle Ticket Counters, which are located in the lower level baggage claim area. There are two ticket counters, so if you’re meeting someone else there, you’d both agree on whether to go to the ticket counter near Door #2 (near the baggage claim for Southwest Airlines - Concourse A) or the one near Door 9. (See link to map below.) The ticket counters are open from 6 am to 2 am.

It takes 15 or 20 minutes for the van to drive from the holding lot to the pickup area at the airport. You may be sharing the van with people going to locations near Pearlstone. www.supershuttle.com, 1-800-258-3826.

The BWIAirportTaxi only travels from BWI and and it costs approximately $80 plus gratuity (or $20 each for 4 people in a taxi or minivan). The rates are approximate because local regulations require the taxi driver to charge according to a meter. You don’t need to make a reservation ahead of time. There are cabs on site waiting at the curb just outside of the baggage claim areas 24 hours a day. www.BWIAirportTaxi.com.

For a map of the airport's baggage claim area, including the SuperShuttle counter locations and taxi stands, click here. You'll see the icon with the "S" for the SuperShuttle counters at the top of the map and at the lower right.

For more information on transportation options, see http://pearlstonecenter.org/rental-information/transportation-options/

For the rides to the airports from Pearlstone, we’ll be able to group together people who are leaving around the same time and help arrange for group transportation back to the airport, either with the Super Shuttle Blue Van, a taxi, or another shuttle company.

From IAD - Dulles International Airport (around 75 miles from Pearlstone):
It may cost around $135 to take a Washington Flyer Taxi from Dulles to Pearlstone. http://www.washfly.com, 703-572-TAXI (8294).

The Airport Shuttle shared van one-way from Dulles to Pearlstone costs $93 for one passenger, $102 for 2 passengers, and it's estimated that the ride would take around 2.5 hours. You need to reserve a ride on The Airport Shuttle around a week in advance. It's also possible to take a shared van from Dulles to BWI for $59 with The Airport Shuttle. www.theairportshuttle.com
See http://metwashairports.com/dulles/793.htm for more transportation options from Dulles.

From DCA - Reagan National Airport (around 65 miles from Pearlstone):
A ride with the The Airport Shuttle from Reagan National costs about the same amount and takes around the same time as a ride from Dulles, above. The Shuttle also offers a ride from Reagan National to BWI for $59. You need to reserve a ride on The Airport Shuttle around a week in advance. www.theairportshuttle.com
for more information on transportation options from Reagan National, see http://metwashairports.com/reagan/1179.htm

From Baltimore Penn train station
The Airport Shuttle also picks up people from the Baltimore Penn train station, and the cost of a shared van would be $40 for one person and $49 for 2 people. You'd need to make a reservation around a week in advance for this shuttle. (It's also possible to take the public light rail from Penn Station to BWI and meet up with other people there.)  www.theairportshuttle.com
