Monday, November 14, 2016

VSC 2016 will host five (5) education tracks allowing attendees to customize their training experience.  Each track will be taught by expert instructors while concentrating on different aspects of security and compliance.  You can earn up to 21 CPE credits!

There is also an optional day of training on Vanguard Integrity Professional's Identity & Access Management and Governance Risk & Compliance Solutions on Thursday, November 17th.

Basic Administration (BAS)
Basic Administration provides RACF training for security administrators, auditors, and systems programmers new to RACF.  This track starts with a Mainframe Computing Boot Camp and goes through Group, User, Dataset and General Resource profile administration.  Also covered is RACF logging and reporting.  Perhaps the most powerful aspect of this track is the hands-on labs that reinforce the concepts presented during the breakout sessions.

All sessions, excluding the hands-on lab, must be completed to receive a Certificate of Achievement.

Beyond the Basics (BTB)
The Beyond the Basics track is a new track that will include new classes related to RACF security.  It is recommended that attendees of this track have completed the RACF Basic Administration Track and have a couple years of RACF Administration experience.   Classes will include advanced RACF topics on SETROPTS, JES2, Database Utilities, USS, DB2  and SDSF.

Compliance & Security Hot Topics (CST)
Be knowledgeable of the evolving information security field, and how it impacts you - as a citizen of the world and in your role as a security professional. This track addresses a variety of hot topics.  Even if your world today is mainframe-centric, technology such as malware, smart devices, social networking, and cloud computing, to name a few, affect you and your company.

Cybersecurity compliance, audits, standards, and regulations change and grow, impacting everyone.  As an information security professional, how do you comply with and pass audits?  What do you need to know?  Do you need to evaluate and adjust your information security management system (ISMS)? Do you know how to develop proactive techniques to anticipate and/or respond to the ever-changing business landscape and evolving customer, technology, legal, and regulatory requirements?  Don't sit back and relax.  Learn from experts as you gain new insights and embrace the evolution of information security.

Defending the Server (DTS)
Defending the mainframe from internal and external threats is mission critical.  Each presentation in this track will focus on specific areas of exposure, configuration controls, or data protection that relate specifically to the z platform.  It is designed for Auditors, Managers, System Programmers, and other technical and non-technical individuals who desire education on defending one of the most important assets in the organization.

ACF2 & Top Secret and More (ATM)
There are multiple ways to help protect your mainframe and this track will take a few of those on.  CA Technologies will present sessions on ACF2 and Top Secret, Correlog on SIEM reporting, and there will be more!  You won’t want to miss some of the exciting new sessions included in this track.
