The Argonne African American - Employee Resource Group (AAA-ERG) seeks to identify African-American high school seniors who have an interest in pursuing science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM) as an academic curriculum.  Applicants must have excelled academically, exhibit exceptional leadership potential both in and outside of the classroom and demonstrate need for financial assistance.  The applicants must be US citizens and residents of the Chicago-land or surrounding areas.  Current college students are not eligible.

The AAA-ERG scholarship committee will award 2 students a onetime scholarship of no less than $1,500; that can be used to cover the cost of tuition, fees, books, room and board, computers, or other college related expenses.  To receive this one time scholarship, the student must be accepted for freshman admission to a college or university, and must be selected by the AAA-ERG scholarship committee to be among the most qualified applicants.

Students who wish to compete for a scholarship must submit all supporting documents for consideration by the selection committee. The preference of the selection committee is that the scholars intend to pursue a career in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics. 

Counselors will select one finalists from their school to compete against finalist from other schools. All finalists will be graded based on the following criteria:

 1.     Academic Achievement

 2.     Evidence of Financial Need

 3.     Contribution to extracurricular activities,
         community involvement (volunteer or employment)

 4.     Letters of Recommendations

 5.     Essay Response

Your essay should be between 500 and 800 words.

1)  Tell us about your favorite app and what you like about it.

2)  Tell us about a time an app played a significant role in improving your day.
