Participants have the opportunity to customize their pre-conference day, and can register for as few as one -  or register for a full-day of pre-conference events.


CAP Faculty Development Certification Course - NEW!!!!

(8:30am - 4:00pm, Includes lunch and breaks)

For the first time, CAP is offering a Faculty Development Certification Course for those teaching in accelerated programs. This course includes research-based techniques that are based on the CAP Quality Standards, and includes training for classroom-based and online courses. This all-day course will provide faculty tools and skills that CAP has identified as the most critical in teaching accelerated courses. EACH PARTICIPANT WILL BE AWARDED A CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETING, AND WILL BE LISTED ON CAP'S WEBSITE AS BEING CERTIFIED IN CAP FACULTY DEVELOPMENT PRACTICES.

Accelerated Programs 101
(8:30 a.m. - 12:00 noon, Includes breaks with beverages and snacks)

This half-day session includes topics such as defining accelerated learning, implementing an accelerated degree program, identifying best practices, in strategy and program development, implementing hybrid/online accelerated learning, and marketing a new or existing accelerated program.  This session is designed for those newer to accelerated learning, or for those more experienced accelerated learning professionals who wish to gain new ideas and strategies for newer programs.

The Benefits of Utilizing Open Educational Resources (OERs) in an Accelerated Program

(1:00pm - 3:00pm)

How many of us love reading a textbook? Do we feel confined to the materials in the text? Do we allow that to dictate what is taught? In this presentation, participants will examine the benefits of utilizing Open Educational Resources (OERs) in an accelerated program. The discussion will focus primarily on OERs in online courses and programs, but techniques can be adapted to face-to-face. Participants should expect to be actively involved in discussion and come away with strategies of implementation.
