As a Certified Instructor, you play a vital role in delivering quality CPI training to your organization. During this year’s Conference, we’ll spend two full days diving into the training and learning process. You’ll learn the why, the what, and the how so that you can create and deliver an intentional training action plan that will help your organization achieve even greater outcomes.

The Conference schedule includes a series of large group general sessions, each paired with smaller profession-specific breakout sessions. You’ll leave with a set of ideas, tools, and techniques to further improve your workplace.

General Session 1: The Why of Training

  • Discuss the value of training and learning within your organization.
  • Understand moving from the "training seat" to the "hot seat."
  • Describe the professional value of extending learning from episodic interventions to continual on-the-job enrichment.
  • Discover your role as Certified Instructor, as a leader and role model of the Integrated Experience.
  • Recognize your role as a coach and facilitator of learning. How can you evoke emotions in your learners to keep them motivated in the long run? 

Workshop 1: The Why of Training

  • Analyze the effectiveness of shifting your culture of learning from "one and done" to "succeed and proceed."
  • Explore the history and value of Care, Welfare, Safety, and Security℠, and why these four words are the core of Nonviolent Crisis Intervention® training.
  • Recognize the learning journey of your staff and discover how to help them make the change from acquisitional learners to transformational learners.
  • Sketch out your successes and challenges along a training road map to start narrowing the gap between where you are now and where you want to be.

General Session 2: The What of Training

  • Discuss the differences between formal and informal learning.
  • Understand the importance and benefits of informal learning.
  • Dive into the components of CPI’s Training and Learning Process.
  • Learn the value of a gap analysis.

Workshop 2: The What of Training

  • Assess the needs of your organization with a gap analysis.
  • Dig deeper into the four components of informal learning in CPI’s Training and Learning Process.
  • Get to know reinforcement models you can use when informally training your staff.
  • Create a customized reinforcement activity to fill the gap you identified.

General Session 3: The How of Training

  • Imagine training everyone in your facility. What could wider and deeper training help you achieve?
  • Learn how to be the “architect” of your training and create a solid foundation for your training structure.
  • Set an intentional design for implementation to have a direct impact on organizational culture and outcomes.
  • Build a training mission and purpose with intent.

Workshop 3: The How of Training

  • Share and compare implementation strategies with your peers.
  • Learn how to foster Care, Welfare, Safety, and Security℠ on a daily basis to enhance your culture.
  • Identify the who, what, where, and why of your intentional training design.
  • Build on the tools from Breakout Session 2 to create your training action plan.
  • Review all of the roles you play as a Certified Instructor.
