  John is a Senior Analyst with our Securities Investments Practice and is based in London. John's research focuses on Capital Markets FinTech including: Blockchain, Digital Assets (Cryptocurrencies & Utility Tokens), Initial Coin Offerings, and the evolution of buy and sell side business models. His thought-leadership regarding public Blockchains has explored the impact of Decentralization and Tokenization on the structure of global economy. John has experience working with executives across financial services on strategy, capital raising, and advisory. He spent fourteen years in equity capital markets (ECM) within investment banking at Merrill Lynch, Goldman Sachs, and Macquarie Capital. His experience straddles both public and private equity markets advising governments, private equity, venture capital, and corporates on financings. He has a detailed understanding of global capital flows and demand potential from traditional institutional investors, hedge funds, and sovereign wealth funds.

  Neil oversees the Risk Management and Compliance space at Celent. His expertise focuses on financial crime, anti-money laundering and know-your-customer compliance, AML/ KYC technology, and regtech. Neil initiated Celent's influential research on AML compliance and technology in 2002. He regularly advises leading financial institutions and technology vendors on their business, technology, and compliance strategies. His advisory engagements have included vendor selection for financial institutions, market feasibility studies for financial institutions and technology vendors, and strategic due diligence on a number of the leading compliance vendors. Neil has been widely quoted in the press, including The Financial Times and The Nihon Keizai Shimbun, has appeared on CNBC, CNN, and TV Tokyo, and is a popular speaker at conferences in North America, Asia, and Europe.
     

Joan McGowan

  Joan McGowan's research focus is on operational risk, third party risk management, financial crime risk management, regulatory compliance, data security, and data analytics. Joan has over 18 years of experience with technology and growth strategies for global financial markets. She has worked as a senior strategist with the leading financial service technology providers FIS Global, Fiserv, and FICO, serving global, international, regional, and midsize banks and credit unions. Prior to that, Joan was a researcher for BBC North News, and a managing editor for The Economist Group.
     

Arin Ray

  Arin Ray is a Senior Analyst with Celent's Securities & Investments practice and is based in the firm's New York office. Arin's expertise lies in the areas of trading, post-trade, and risk and compliance operations in capital markets where he has published extensively on business, regulatory, and technology trends in trading, clearing and settlement, trade and communication surveillance, Know Your Customer (KYC), and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) related issues. His advisory engagements have included developing technology strategy including vendor selection for financial institutions, benchmarking, and market entry and expansion studies for financial institutions and technology providers. In his recent consulting work, he has advised a European financial services provider to devise their post trade strategy, a tier 1 brokerage in their product and technology strategy, a leading international exchange in their market entry and growth strategy, and banks and payment providers in AML technology strategy and vendor selection process.

  Andrew Renzella is responsible for client engagement across our Securities & Investments group. While based in our Boston office Andrew also spends a significant amount of his time in our London and New York offices. He works with leading international buy and sell side firms, custodians, exchanges and other market participants across the Securities & Investments ecosystem. Andrew has been a leading sales and marketing thought leader across the international financial services ecosystem for 20 years. He has a background in economic theory and application and he has led engagements with asset managers, banks, exchanges, insurers, and leading technology vendors to advise them on their business strategies. Andrew was the fourth employee at Celent and actively involved in Celent’s growth into a leading international research and advisory firm. He helped the firm to establish a benchmark presence in Toronto, to establish a vibrant wealth and asset management practice globally.
