Program Instructors:

Joe Godges, PT, DPT, OCS
Joseph Godges is Adjunct Associate Professor at the USC Division of Biokinesiology & Physical Therapy where his primary focus is to support clinical residency and fellowship programs and the professional development of the clinical instructors through high quality education.  He is also the ICF Practice Guidelines Coordinator for the Orthopaedic Section of the APTA, Inc.  In addition, he  is the Coordinator of Clinical Education and Practice for Optimum Care Providers, a company that provides support for outpatient orthopaedic and sports physical therapy private practices.  Dr. Godges is currently a member of the Board of Directors for the Journal of Orthopaedic and Sports Physical Therapy.  Previously, he was the coordinator of the physical therapy clinical residency and fellowship programs for Kaiser Permanente in Southern California.  He has served on the Orthopaedic Specialty Council for the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties, on the APTA’s Committee on Clinical Residency and Fellowship Credentialing, and on the Orthopaedic Section’s Board of Directors.

Michael Miller, PT, OCS, FAAOMPT

Michael Miller graduated from California State University, Long Beach in 1990 and completed his Masters in 2006 at Loma Linda University.  He completed the PNF Post Graduate training course at Kaiser, Vallejo in 1995 and the Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Orthopaedic Residency Program in 1997.  A Board Certified Specialist in Orthopaedic Physical Therapy since 1997, he works as a Clinical Specialist at Rancho Physical Therapy, is a part-time instructor at Loma Linda University, and Clinical Faculty for the Rancho Physical Therapy Orthopaedic Physical Therapy Residency Program.  He is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Therapists.  Michael has presented at State and National conferences.  He has served on the task force for APTA Residency Task Force on Guidelines for
Curriculum Development for Postprofessional Residencies in Orthopaedic Physical Therapy and
Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapy.  He has also coauthored the APTA home study course 13.1
Including the Patient in PT: The power of the Psyche. “ESSENTIAL SKILLS FOR INTERVIEWING AND
EDUCATING PATIENTS WITH PSYCHOLOGICAL IMPAIRMENTS." Currently, Michael is the Chair for the Orthopaedics Specialty Council, course developer and instructor for the Advanced Clinical Practice courses offered through the APTA.
