The House That General Hospital Fans Built

Adolfo, Monica and Stephanie Aguilar will move into their new HFH home this winter!

Adolfo and Monica have one daughter and are expecting a second child. They are concerned with the conditions of their current home because of the hazards it poses for their children. Eight years ago, Adolfo separated from his wife and daughter to emigrate from El Salvador in search of a better life in the U.S. Over the course of many years, he worked hard and followed the proper steps and procedures so that his wife and daughter could join him in the United States. He lived with his parents to save money and has consistently worked two housekeeping jobs to ensure that he can provide a better life for his family. Once his family arrived in July 2009, he moved out of his parent’s home and found a place to rent.

Their daughter, Stephanie, loves music, dancing and singing. She also enjoys Science and does well in school. Adolfo and Monica are looking forward to having a stable environment for their children and a safe place for them to play. They enjoy working alongside other Habitat for Humanity volunteers and their future neighbors while they build on their home. Adolfo says that owning a home is, “A dream come true, it’s like winning the lottery. When we were in our country, we never had our own place to live. Now we can have that opportunity. What can I say, I’m in heaven.”
