Pick up NEED materials and conference supplies. Continental breakfast will be served. NEED curriculum kits are sponsored for each teacher attending the workshop, including Energy Infobooks at three grade levels, and much more!

9:00 a.m. Welcome and Introductions
Review goals and objectives for the workshop and begin planning ways to use the materials and training in your school. Meet your fellow participants and the sponsors of the workshop by playing Solar Energy Bingo! Take the workshop pre-assessment.

9:45 a.m. The Science of Energy
Learn more about the forms of energy while experimenting with the NEED Project’s Science of Energy kit. Kits will be provided to participating teachers.

11:00 a.m. Solar Energy 101
After learning about the forms of energy with the Science of Energy, participants will begin studying the way solar energy is tapped to provide electricity, hot water, and heating and cooling of buildings, and we’ll introduce our four NEED Solar Energy kits.

12:00 p.m. Lunch

12:45 p.m. Exploring Solar Energy
The PG&E Solar Schools Program has sponsored NEED Solar Kits for all participating teachers. Explore the activities and find new ways to incorporate solar into your classroom!

2:00 p.m. Energy Management and Climate Change
Learn about NEED tools and activities that teach about energy conservation and efficiency. Uncover the connections between energy and global climate change in a fun and meaningful way using NEED Climate Change activities.

2:45 p.m. Paperwork!
Evaluations, Kit Selection, Stipend Request, Post-Workshop Assessment and More!

3:00 p.m. Adjourn
