1. Who is able to attend the Youth Organizing and Policy Institutes?
This series of trainings will equip college-aged students ages 18 - 24 with skills to mobilize their communities to support Planned Parenthood. If you are a college student who is interested in building skills to mobilize around reproductive justice and sexual health, you should attend one of the institutes. Students who attend should be prepared to learn, push themselves, and make a difference back in their home communities.
2. Do I need to be a student to attend the Institute?
No. The Planned Parenthood Youth Organizing Team works with collegte students and non-students. We do want partcipants to be between the ages of 18 - 24.
3. Do I need to attend each day of the Institute?
Yes. The curriculum is designed in steps and you will be working in teams throughout the Institute. In order to maximize your full potential amongst your team, it’s really important that participants attend each day of the Institute.
4. What should I wear?
The dress code for Institute participants is casual. Wear whatever you feel comfortable in. You may want to bring a light jacket or sweater for rooms that may be cooler.
5. What is the cost to attend?
If you’re a Planned Parenthood Affiliated Student (member of a VOX chapter or Choice group on campus) you will be eligible for a travel stipend, lodging and most meals. Please contact your local affiliate or email Kersha.email@example.com to connect you with the proper person.
Anyone outside of the existing Planned Parenthood network will pay $30.00 for registration and should register as Non-Planned Parenthood Affiliated Students. Planned Parenthood will not be able to cover the cost of lodging or travel for non-affiliated students.
6. Where are the Institutes?
The Institutes are held in 8 great locations throughout the country. Once you’ve registered, we will email you further information about the actual location of the Institute. On the schedule of events (below) basic information is included (Ex: University of Montana in Missoula).
