Discussion Topic I

Opportunities / Threats in the External Environment

Who / what are the possible disruptors in financial services? What emerging threats/opportunities are on the horizon? This will be a “look around corner” to explore how the group expects the general business environment to evolve and the potential impact on the financial services industry. Is your firm prepared? For example, how is Social/Local/Mobile a threat? An opportunity? How could wearable technology and pervasive location sensing technology affect your customer interactions? How should your company respond? How is the branch/store/agent distribution model changing and what, if anything, will replace them?

After this session, you should have a fresh scan of innovations and disruptions you should keep an eye on and their potential impact for your organization.

2:00 p.m.

Discussion Topic II

Innovation Process and Technology

What capabilities are being built / used to effectively identify, validate, and execute innovation? How are both industry incumbents and new startups approaching the execution of their initiatives? What is different and what is similar? Participants will discuss how they are organized for innovation and which process and technology approaches are successful.

This discussion promises to be a lively one and we are anticipating a spirited debate. Expect to expand your knowledge of good / best practices in innovation and to come away with some fresh ideas to implement at your firm.

3:00 p.m.

Discussion Topic III

Leading Innovation - Engaging the Organization

Are you effectively engaging your varied constituents around your innovation efforts? What approaches have proven successful with the different stakeholder groups – front line business, IT, partners and suppliers? How can companies effectively involve the younger members of the workforce? What does a great partnership with technology vendors and service providers look like regarding innovation and what risk/reward sharing models have been used? The group will review examples of effective communication campaigns and partnerships around innovation.

This will be a great opportunity to share and learn what interventions successfully motivate the execution of innovation. What works, what doesn’t work and why? Learn new tips / techniques you can use in your company and how they can be integrated into your current efforts.
