8:30 a.m. Welcome to the Workshop!
Introduction to The NEED Project and Energy Bingo.

9:15 a.m. The Science of Energy
Learn more about the forms of energy and energy transformations while experimenting with the Science of Energy kit.  Phillips 66 provides a Science of Energy Kit (for appropriate grade level) to all participating teachers. Take a quick pre-workshop assessment.

11:15 a.m. Energy Enigma
After learning about the Science of Energy, participants begin studying the sources of energy. What are they? Where do they come from? How do we use each of the 10 sources of energy?

12:15 p.m. Lunch and Phillips 66 Speaker
Following the lessons on energy sources, a local Phillips 66 representative will speak about today’s and tomorrow’s energy challenges and the company’s activities in the local area.

1:30 p.m. Electric Connections
Explore how the nation’s energy sources contribute to the generation of electricity.

2:00 p.m. Oil & Gas In The Round
This quick activity reinforces the information about the oil industry.

2:30 p.m. Refining Pinball
In this activity students will learn about fractional distillation as a part of the refinery process, and identify the products produced at different temperatures.

3:00 p.m. Paperwork and Other Stuff:
Complete Workshop Evaluations, Post-workshop assessment, receive substitute reimbursement forms, and complete Order Forms for Curriculum and Kits
