We look forward to your visit to our campus.  Our technical and design team is in the process of preparing for an outstanding week of rehearsals and performances.  We have designed a number of documents to help us organize your technical needs.  Please download all of the information and share it with members of your technical team.  If you have any questions please contact me using the information above.  Our goal is to ensure that you have a safe and enjoyable experience at the conference.  We request your help in making the tech experience run smoothly by meeting all posted deadlines. The deadline for technical information submissions has been extended to Friday, January 23, 2015 in order to best accommodate all schools returning for spring semesters. If technical information is received after this date, there is no guarantee that we will have enough time to process completely before the conference.

DEADLINES for ADJUDICATION CONCERTS

The deadline for those with rigging issues or special needs with props, projections, or anything else has passed. If questions remain, please contact Mark O'Maley (Mark.OMaley@Colorado.EDU) as soon as possible.


Technical information (school name, title of dance, choreographer’s last name, length of music in minutes and seconds, cue sheets, call sheets for stage manager) should be emailed to ACDAinfo@wcupa.edu with “School Name.ADJUDICATON” no later than FRIDAY, JANUARY 23, 2015

ADJUDICATION VENUE INFORMATION
The Adjudicated and the Gala Concerts will be held in the Madeleine Wing Adler Theatre in
the Swope Music Building, which opened in 2007. Our theatre seats 375 with a playing area on
stage for dance of 37‘x30’. The stage is semi-sprung with 1/4” Masonite painted black with black
marley. For your safety and to prevent costly damage to theater equipment, please rehearse using
the stage dimensions prior to arriving at the conference.

Spacing/Technical Rehearsals:
A spacing/technical rehearsal for all participants in the Adjudication Concerts will be
scheduled and each college/university will be given 15 minutes onstage to set an audio level,
adjust the light cue levels previously programmed, and to space and run the dance. The schedule is
very tight and will be strictly followed.

Stage Manager/Technician:
Each participating college/university must provide a person who will be responsible for all
technical elements and for calling all cues for each dance in rehearsals and performances for the
Adjudication and Gala concerts. Cues may be called from the control booth in the back of the
house or down stage right in the wings. Dances with props and scenery may require a stage technician and a stage manager supplied by each participating college/university.


GENERAL POLICIES & HOUSE RULES
Food/Drink - Food and drink (except water) are not allowed inside the dressing rooms, on the
stage, or inside the auditorium.

Smoking – Smoking is not allowed inside any area of the facility. Smoking is permitted outside,
20 feet away from the facility, ONLY.

Flammable Material – No flammable material such as bunting tissue paper, crepe paper
cardboard, etc. will be permitted to be used for decorations. All materials used for decorative
purposes must be treated with flame proofing and approved. Pyrotechnics or fire usage (including
candles and incense) will not be permitted.

Aisle Lights – For safety reasons, the aisle lights in the auditorium must remain on at all times
during all rehearsals and performances.

Standing Room Only (SRO) – Standing room does not exist within the auditorium. No one is
permitted to stand or sit in the aisles so as to impede evacuation or the smooth flow of patrons entering or exiting the auditorium.

Performers Entrance – All performers and event personnel will have to come through the lobby to
check-in for performances.

Security – Do not leave valuables unattended at any time in the dressing rooms, backstage area,
or auditorium. West Chester University will accept no liability for lost or stolen items.

Personal Conduct – Be on time. Be responsible for your personal and collective belongings. There
will be many people moving to various areas of the campus in short periods of time. Be respectful
to all whom you encounter.

MADELEINE WING ADLER THEATRE SPECIFICATIONS
Stage Dimensions:
• Proscenium Opening 49'- 9” Wide x 27’-0” High
• Stage for dance: 38’-0” Wide x 30-0” Deep
• Stage Wings: four per side, approximately 7’-0” deep
• Stage Right off stage Down Stage Wing 13’-0”.
• Up Stage Wing 3’-0” due to Orchestra Shell Storage.
• Stage Left off stage Wing 11’-7”
• Stage is a semi-sprung with 1?4” Masonite painted black.
• Lagging and stage screws are not permitted.

Crossover space is available upstage of the white cyc /opera plastic bounce.

Dance floor surface:
Black Harlequin dance floor on top of a sub-floor composed of plywood covered with Masonite.
Please note: No rosin, talcum powder, glycerin, lotions, or other similar substances may be
used. Shoes that could potentially damage the dance floor surface, such as hard-soled shoes,
painted shoes, or jazz tennis shoes, may not be worn. Tap shoes may be worn as long as the
screws are tightened.

Rigging:
• Grid Height: 65’-0”
• 39 single purchase line sets (see line set schedule)
• NO HOUSE FLY POINTS

Main Drape:
There will be no front curtain during adjudicated concerts.

Soft Goods:
• The legs and borders are black velour.
• There will be a black shark-tooth scrim upstage with a white cyclorama behind that.
• Furthest upstage is a white opera plastic/bounce.
• There will be an upstage traveler in addition to a full stage black velour.

Background options:
• White cyclorama with no scrim.
• White opera plastic/bounce.
• White opera plastic/bounce with black scrim.
• White cyclorama with black scrim.
• Black velour curtain.
• Exposed black cinder block wall.
• Exposed black cinder block wall with black scrim.

Apron:
• 3’-0” High from House Floor.
• 49'- 9” Wide.
• Apron is 3’-5” Deep stage right and stage left Apron is 7’-5” on center.

Dressing Rooms:
Room 141 will be used as dressing/prep area. THERE IS NO LAUNDRY ONSITE.

Rigging and Flying:
There are resources for flying scenery in the MW Adler Theater. Anyone with specific rigging needs, or any other special needs, should contact Mark O’Maley as soon as possible and no later than FRIDAY, DECEMBER 26 to discuss what can be accommodated.

PROJECTION
Due to limitations related to the set-up for the Adjudication & Gala Concerts, the only projection 
position available will be from our built in video position Front of House. This projector fully fills
the black scrim or white cyc upstage. Dancers onstage will be in the field of the projected image
slightly and their shadows will be projected on to the bottom of the background. If projection is
required for any dance, the college/university submitting the dance will need to provide the video
source and the operator. The sound for the dance should be with video source, as projection
source is tied into the house sound system. Additionally, you will need to supply any adaptor for
your source to our VGA inputs.

Any use of projection must be accomplished within the technical time slot assigned to the dance.

Anyone with projection needs, or any other special needs, should contact Mark O’Maley as soon as possible and no later than FRIDAY, DECEMBER 26 to discuss what can be accommodated.

LIGHTING
Maximum number of cues per dance (including opening and final black out): 5

A complete dance light plot will be utilized comprised of shins, mids, and heads; backlight,
downlight, high sides, gobo high sides, diagonal gobo wash; warm and cool front light; down light
“pools”; and cyclorama color washes.

Color changes will be possible in the shins, mids, and heads on the booms.Each participating
college/university must provide all gel in frames for ETC Source 4’s (6.25”) for these changes.
These materials should be presented when a school registers upon arrival. 

INFORMAL VENUE INFORMATION
The Informal Concerts will be held in the MainStage Theatre in the E.O. Bull Center for the Arts. Our theatre seats 155 with a playing area on stage for dance of 31‘x35’. The stage is a Black Rosco Adagio dance floor on top of a sub-floor composed of tongue and groove yellow pine on 3/8” neoprene with ¼” Masonite above. 
For your safety and to prevent costly damage to theater equipment, please rehearse using the stage dimensions prior to arriving at the conference.

Spacing/Technical Rehearsals:
A spacing/technical rehearsal for all participants in the Informal Concerts will be
scheduled and each college/university will be given 12 minutes onstage to set an audio level,
adjust the light cue levels previously programmed, and to space and run the dance. The schedule is
very tight and will be strictly followed.

Stage Manager/Technician:
Each participating college/university must provide a person who will be responsible for all
technical elements for each dance in rehearsals and performances for the
Informal concerts. Cues will be called from the control booth in the back of the
house. Dances with props and scenery may require a stage technician and a stage manager
supplied by each participating college/university.

MAINSTAGE THEATRE SPECIFICATIONS

Stage Dimensions:
• Three Quarter Thrust Stage
• Stage area for Dance: 31’ Wide x 35’ Deep
• Stage Wings: Upstage Left & Right (Approximately 5’ Deep x 10’ Offstage)
• Stage Entrances: Upstage Left & Right, Downstage Left & Right
• Stage Entrances are connected by continuous passage under the seating. Cast members can be seen crossing upstage to downstage.
• Crossover Upstage of Cyc is available (3’ Wide)
• Height to bottom of Grid is 16 ½’.
• Lagging and stage screws are not permitted.

Dance floor surface:
• Black Rosco Adagio dance floor on top of a sub-floor composed of tongue and groove yellow pine on 3/8” neoprene with ¼” Masonite above.

• Black velour curtain or Light Blue cyclorama (with no scrim): lighted with Blue (R80), Red (R26) and/or Clear
• Front Light system: no color (R132)
• High Sides: pale blue (L201)
• Down Lights systems: Blue (R85) and/or Red (R26)
• Back Light Gobo system: no color
• High Side Gobo (R88)
• There will be a rep plot (see attached).
Internal cueing will not be possible. Lights will be up at start of piece and down at end.

Dressing Rooms:
• A Dressing room (EOB001) with 16 stations, hanging rack and mirrors will be provided. Dressing room is connected to the Main Stage at the Down Left corner. 
• Overflow dressing room (EOB21) will be a classroom studio on the same floor as the Main Stage, but not directly connected.  
Please Note: THERE IS NO LAUNDRY ONSITE.

Rigging and Flying and Projections:
• There are NO rigging, flying or projection options for the informal concerts in the Main Stage.

Anyone with special needs (props, performance elements other than rigging and projection), please contact Martin Dallago as soon as possible and no later than FRIDAY, JANUARY 23, 2015 to discuss what can be accommodated.
