Matt Williams enters his fourth season as Northern Michigan's swimming & diving assistant coach in 2017-18.
Before he joined the Wildcat staff, Williams was the Director of Competitive Swimming and Aquatics at the Marquette County YMCA for six years. While there, he created programs to train athletes ranging from YMCA national champion qualifiers to beginners.
Williams was also the head swim coach in the Marquette Area Public Schools district from 1995-2001 and 2002-2007.
Williams guided the woman's team to seven-straight state championships and a cumulative win-loss record of 120-10-1. The Redettes went undefeated for six-straight seasons.
On the men's side, he guided Marquette to nine state championships, three undefeated seasons and a cumulative record of 119-12. He was named the U.P. Swim Coach of the Year in 1998, 2004 and 2007.

Connor Dorff was hired as the men’s and women’s diving coach ahead of the 2017-18 season.
Dorff spent the past two seasons at NCAA Division III St. Lawrence, where he helped divers qualify for the NCAA National Championships for the first time since 1987. During his time at St. Lawrence, his squad enjoyed one All-American and three honorable mention All-American performances.
Among his other responsibilities, Dorff oversaw the athlete development plans and dry-land and strength training programs. He also coordinated diver recruiting and managed St. Lawrence’s intramural programs.
Dorff spent his collegiate career at Division III Denison, which he helped lead to NCAA national titles in 2011 and 2012. He served as team captain in 2014-2015 and qualified for the national championship meet all four years.
An Academic All-American, he became the first diver in the North Coast Athletic Conference to perform a forward four-and-one-half somersault from the 3-meter diving board during the 2015 conference championships. He was an NCAC finalist all four years and also competed for the USA Elite Diving Team.
A native of Amber, Pa., Dorff graduated from Denison in 2015 with a bachelor's degree in sociology and cultural anthropology. In 2016, he earned his master's degree in education from St. Lawrence.
