Nick McDonald

McDonald joins the NMU Men’s Soccer staff for the 2018 season after spending the past three years as a varsity assistant and junior varsity head coach at Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Missouri.

At Rockhurst, McDonald helped guide the Hawks to a 52-7-9 overall record, including three regular season titles, and a pair of Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament crowns in 2015 and 2016. In all three seasons, Rockhurst advanced to the NCAA Tournament and capture the NCAA Midwest Region Championships before advancing to three-consecutive Final Four’s.

McDonald has also assisted at the youth level as a coach with Brookside Soccer Club in Kansas City, Missouri.

Before beginning his coaching career, McDonald played one season professionally in the Major Arena Soccer League where he competed for the Tulsa Revolution during their 2014-15 campaign.

As a student-athlete, McDonald was a four-year starter for Rockhurst from the 2010 season through the 2013 season and advanced to the NCAA Tournament three times during those four campaigns. He would graduate from Rockhurst in 2014 with a degree in Sport Management.
