Developmental Disabilities and Dementia: Best Practices in Care

Do you have aging clients with developmental disabilities who have been diagnosed with dementia or are at risk of developing dementia?
About This Workshop
This workshop is based on the National Task Group on Intellectual Disabilities and Dementia Practices (NTG) national model training curriculum, Dementia Capable Care of Adults with ID and Dementia, of which Kathryn Pears was a co-developer and is co-lead trainer.  The NTG is an affiliate of the American Academy of Developmental Medicine and Dentistry.

The NTG curriculum was developed by 80 of the foremost authorities on ID and dementia, including physicians, nurses, social workers, program administrators, and other allied staff, from across the United States and Canada and covers the essential components of developing a dementia-capable workforce to care for aging adults with I/DD and dementia who are at risk for or who have developed a dementing illness.  Offered as a three day workshop at sites across the United States the NTG curriculum contains a Train-the-Trainer component to develop local expertise in the care of adults with I/DD and dementia.  The NTG workshop is considered the requisite staff training program in I/DD and dementia.

This workshop is not an official NTG workshop but much of the content will be based on the NTG's copyrighted national curriculum for which Ms. Pears is an authorized user.
