8:15 a.m. Welcome and Introductions – Welcome from ConocoPhillips
8:30 a.m. The Science of Energy
Learn more about the forms of energy and energy transformations while experimenting with the Science of Energy kit. ConocoPhillips provides a Science of Energy Kit (for appropriate grade level) to all participating teachers.
10:30 a.m. Energy Round-Up
This activity introduces the nation’s leading energy sources and the facts and data about them.
11:00 a.m. Energy Resources: 101 – Energy Enigma
After learning about the Science of Energy, participants begin studying the sources of energy. What are they? Where do they come from? How do we use each of the 10 sources of energy?
12:00 p.m. Lunch and ConocoPhillips Speaker
Following the lessons on energy sources, a local ConocoPhillips representative will speak about today’s and tomorrow’s energy challenges and the company’s activities in the local area.
12:45 p.m. Understanding Energy Efficiency
The Energy Conservation Web - This quick lesson allows participants to understand their home and school as a system and to better conserve energy resources.
1:30 p.m. Efficiency and Conservation At Home and School – Saving Energy Expo
Using the tools from NEED's Monitoring and Mentoring tools and the Energy Infobooks, participants develop presentations to teach fellow participants about energy efficiency at home and at school.
2:30 p.m. Carbon Cycle Activity
This activity will demonstrate energy choices by teaching participants about the carbon cycle and how almost everything we use and everything we do requires energy and produces greenhouse gases. Participants look for alternative ways to meet their needs (products, foods, water, transportation, etc.).
3:00 p.m. Wrap-Up, Evaluate, Resources
3:30 p.m. Adjourn
