 GETTING TO DC

AIR:  Three airports serve the Washington, DC area:

Baltimore-Washington International Airport (BWI)
Dulles International Airport (IAD)
Reagan National Airport (DCA)

Reagan National Airport is only a few miles from the Kennedy Center and the hotels. If at all possible, it is recommended to fly into National.

The Metro (Washington's subway system) goes to National Airport. It is only six stops to the Foggy Bottom Metro Station for hotels, Kennedy Center and the George Washington University.

TRAIN:  Amtrak operates from Union Station.

BUS:  Buses arrive and depart daily from downtown Washington.  Options include MegaBus and BoltBus.

CAR:  Parking is expensive in downtown Washington. Plan to spend approximately $30 per day.

 STAYING IN DC

HOTELS
ACDFA has secured block booking at four hotels within easy walking distance of the Kennedy Center, the George Washington University, the Metro (subway system), Dupont Circle and Georgetown, the National Mall and museums and monuments. All hotels are relatively small and charming.

The following applies for all four hotels:

  • RATES:  Wed., May 23--$199.00; Thurs.-Sun., May 24-27--$159.00. 
           Rates cover up to triples or quads. Check the individual hotel.
  • Full kitchen (exception:  George Washington University Inn rooms contain refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker only)

  • On-site restaurant (and hotel bar)

  • Complimentary high speed internet access

  • One Washington Circle has a small outdoor pool

  • Parking: $30/night. (Valet parking at River Inn. Other hotels have small parking lots. One Washington Circle is advised for vans.)

  • 14.5% Washington, DC sales tax on rooms.

 GETTING AROUND DC

Festival activities are located in the Foggy Bottom neighborhood of Washington.  Many historic sights and interesting neighborhoods, including Georgetown, are within walking distance from festival hotels, the George Washington University and the Kennedy Center.  Public transportation is easily accessible in Washington, DC.

All Festival activities use the FOGGY BOTTOM METRO STATION.  Take some time to plan your travel.  Metro Rail offers one-day passes that may be more efficient.

Washington, DC is known for its traffic.  If at all possible, walk or take public transportation.
