2014 NCASI West Coast Regional Meeting

Vancouver, Washington
Monday, September 22, 2014
Second Call

Plans are being finalized for the 2014 West Coast Regional Meeting, scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday, September 23 and 24, at the Heathman Lodge in Vancouver, Washington.  The program, organized by NCASI’s West Coast Regional Center staff with guidance from the NCASI regional committee, focuses on important regulatory developments, technical studies results, and industry progress in applying control technologies.  Attendance by member company personnel and invited regulatory staff and university researchers concerned with these areas is encouraged in order to advance a common understanding of the industry’s environmental challenges, interests, progress, and investigative programs.

On Monday (September 22) afternoon, prior to the meeting, a workshop titled Recent Developments in Water Quality Criteria: Development and Implementation will be offered.  This workshop will review current issues related to development and implementation of water quality criteria for the protection of human health and aquatic life.  A description is attached, and topics and speakers are included in the preliminary agenda.

The meeting will begin on Tuesday, September 23, with a morning General Session focusing on topics of broad regional and national interest.  Two concurrent technical sessions are planned for Tuesday afternoon:  Water Quality and Lumber and Panel Plant Environmental Management.

Attendees are invited to an open bar reception on Tuesday evening.  This event will provide participants time to meet with their peers in an informal setting.  NCASI Sustaining Members are invited to set up tabletop displays to stimulate technical information sharing and networking.

The meeting will feature breakfast roundtable discussions on Wednesday morning.  These small group sessions will offer an opportunity for attendees to share information on environmental topics of current interest.

Wednesday’s agenda will be devoted to Sustainability and Air Quality topics, as well as a full day session on forest management, including a Forest Watershed Session in the morning and a Forest Wildlife Session in the afternoon.

If you have questions about the meeting, please contact Steve Stratton, Regional Manager at the West Coast Regional Center, PO Box 458, Corvallis OR  97339, by telephone (541‑752‑8801), or e‑mail (sstratton@ncasi.org).  Dr. Bob Danehy can be contacted at the same address and telephone number or e‑mail (bdanehy@ncasi.org) for matters regarding the Forest Watershed Session; or contact Dr. Jake Verschuyl at 360-293-4748 or jverschuyl@ncasi.org for questions about the Forest Wildlife Session.
